R. Ramakumar is a development economist and a Professor at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences in Mumbai. He completed his PhD from the Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata. His work has encompassed agricultural economics, rural development fiscal policy and national identity schemes. From September 2o16, he has also been a non-ministerial member with the Kerala State Planning Board.
