Patrick Deville

France

A great traveller with a cosmopolitan mind, Patrick heads both the Maison des écrivains étrangers et traducteurs (MEET – The House of Foreign Authors and Translators) in Saint-Nazaire and the journal with the same name.  In 2011, the editors of ‘Lire’ magazine selected his novel, ‘Kampuchea: Roman’ as the best French novel of the year. In 2012, his novel ‘Plague and Cholera’ (based on the life of the bacteriologist Alexandre Yersin) was one of the most discussed books of the literary season and received both the Prix Fnac and the Prix Femina.  His most recent novel ‘Amazonia’, was published in France in September 2019.
