Writer, poet, professor of literature and creative writing, István is currently Associate Professor of Creative Writing at Budapest’s Pázmány Péter Catholic University. He is a prolific writer across several genres, having published 30 plays, 25 collections of poetry and four short story collections, as well as three books of essays.  He is a noted translator from Czech, especially of poetry, and his own work has so far appeared in more than 20 languages. The seven plays he has written for Baltazar Theatre – a unique theatre company in Budapest which employs actors with mental disabilities – have been performed successfully in Hungary and abroad.
