Hari Krishnan

Hari is Associate Professor in the Department of Dance and Feminist, Gender and Sexuality Studies at Wesleyan University. His research areas include colonialism, post-colonialism and Indian dance, Bharatanatyam in Tamil cinema, the history of devadasi-courtesan dance traditions in South India, queer identities in global dance performance and contemporary dance from global perspectives, His monograph titled ‘Celluloid Classicism: Early Tamil Cinema and the Making of Modern Bharatanatyam’ has been released recently. He is also the artistic director of Toronto-based dance company, inDANCE (indance.ca) and is known internationally for his bold and transgressive choreography.
