Language is the way we explain, communicate, and classify the world around us. Sometimes it is limiting, sometimes it is empowering. However language often takes time to catch up with the new feelings and ideas. This is particularly true of gender identities. Currently we live in a world, where our vocabulary no longer supports our realities. Particularly, with regards to the restrictions of binary pronouns. Now that multiple genders have been identified, surely languages should evolve and be more inclusive. But until then, how do writers, thinkers, and the rest of us grapple with the limitations of our language.
