With the advent of social media and its multifarious platforms for airing an opinion, a large population across the globe has now found a voice, seen itself in print, been ‘liked’, retweeted and cheered. A section of that population now wants to expand that experience into many more lines and words, perhaps a book: Have keyboard, will type. And sometimes, write a bestseller too. In this democratisation of literary opportunity, what happens to literary standards?
