Frightening images come from all over the world – of cracking glaciers, denuded forests, endangered species, dry river beds. Plastic waste is clogging the oceans, ever-increasing floods are washing away lives. These are ironically the consequences of unimagined human progress. Can the same human ingenuity fix them? Are climate change activists, issuing deadlines since the millennium, unduly alarmist? Will new living patterns or technology emerge, which will renew the earth? If so, will some countries have to sacrifice more than others? The only certainty in all the uncertainty is that there is no Planet B.
